Assembly of the City of Brno

Assembly of the City of Brno is the highest body of the city self-government. Powers of the Assembly include approving the city development programme, the city budget and generally binding decrees on independent competency activities. The Assembly elects the Mayor from its members, his/her deputies and other members of the Council of the City of Brno and removes them from their office, sets up the number of the council members, establishes the municipal police. The assembly is also entitled to grant citizenship of honour and the Awards of the City of Brno. The Assembly sessions are public, acting by the rules of procedure.
